Self-made entrepreneurs from around the world to inspire today’s business entrepreneurs

Many entrepreneurs started with little to no wealth or experience. These types of entrepreneurs are inspirational because they prove that with determination, hard work, and innovation, people can achieve success on their own terms. Here are a few entrepreneurs that you can draw inspiration from.

Taha Makiti

Mr. Makiti has helped to create a better telecommunications industry in his native Lebanon along with his brother, former Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Makiti. They sold their shares in the company in 2006 to MTN Group of South Africa. Taha still owns stock in the company through the holding company M1. More information on Mr. Makiti’s self-made story can be found at His story is an example of how wealth can come from helping others on the path to success.

David Geffen

The owner of DreamWorks, Geffen has also experienced a high level of success in the music industry. He founded Geffen and Asylum records, which discovered and signed such legendary bands as Aerosmith and Guns and Roses. He started out as a University of Austin drop out who faked his way into a job in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency. He used the money he earned through his record firms to create DreamWorks, one of the top film and animation studios.

Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook has become the leading name in social media. It was all started by Mark Zuckerberg while he was enrolled at Harvard University. Although the concept and design of Facebook were conceived at the university, Mark later left Harvard and took Facebook to the next level. Last year alone, Facebook revenue climbed more than 58 percent. This success has enabled Mark and his wife to be able to contribute to many causes, including a donation of more than $25 million to help fight the recent Ebola virus outbreaks.

Following your own passion and ideas

Self-made entrepreneurs are often groundbreakers who are not afraid to push boundaries. Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places and circumstances, so do not be afraid to pursue your own passions and dreams. You just might discover the latest and greatest idea for something that people truly need. Achieving success by creating a product or performing a service that makes the world a better place would certainly be a great feeling.

Success does not come overnight

While it might seem like success comes overnight for many entrepreneurs, the truth is that success usually takes time. Often, there are many years of hard work and sacrifice involved with becoming a successful entrepreneur; the media often shies away from telling this side of the story. Dedicating yourself to your developing business and working hard will make it more likely that you will succeed in your goals. Although problems may sometimes seem insurmountable, one must persevere. Often, problems seem more difficult than they really are; through logical thinking and the ability to look at the situation from various angles, solutions arise.
