Personalized things from stationery to clothing are everywhere right now! Many retailers have realized the benefits that come with allowing their customers to add their individuality and personality to items. I love this trend. You can take absolutely anything, add your creativity and make it your own.
One of the biggest areas to be touched by the personalizing trend is weddings. More and more brides- and grooms-to-be are adding a personal touch to their invitations, wedding favors, and many other aspects. If you are thinking about incorporating more of your personality into your wedding, have a look at my five favorite ways to personalize your special day.
1 The favors
Wedding gifts for your guests are very easy to personalize and these small details can make a big difference to your wedding day. Create customized labels for little jars of jams or pickles or bottles of liqueur. Personalized candle holders and glasses also make lovely favors for your guests. For a really cute idea, you can get popular candies like Sweethearts and M&Ms personalized with your wedding date or even a picture of you and your partner.
2 The invitations
Personalized wedding invitations are another great idea. Many online retailers allow customers to take beautiful wedding invitation designs and make them their own. You can do this by customizing the colors, font and message that appears on the invitation. I recently received a wedding invitation that included the story of how the couple met, written in a very amusing and quirky tone. It was so like them to do something unique and extra special like that!
3 The placemats
For a really special touch, how about personalized placemats? They can be individualized by adding a personal message for each guest. Perhaps you want to thank your maid of honor for all her help or remind a guest of a particular special occasion you shared together. I also love the idea of adding a photo of each guest at their place at the table. However, if you decide to do this, do choose good photos, as you don’t want to risk embarrassing your friends and family!
4 The soundtrack
The soundtrack is the perfect way to inject your personality into your wedding. Choose music that holds a special meaning for you and your partner. Your playlist may include the first song that you danced to and the tune that was on when you became engaged to be married. I also love the idea of asking all your guests to provide a song of their choice when they RSVP to their invitation.
5 The guestbook
Many brides- and grooms-to-be are swapping the traditional wedding book for a more fun and personal alternative. Some of the great ideas I have heard of include a jigsaw puzzle where each guest signs the back of a piece of the puzzle. And messages left on stones that are kept in a bell jar and make a beautiful and thoughtful ornament for the happy couple.
There are so many other ways to add personal touches to your wedding day. Keep looking, and I’m sure you’ll find the right ones for you.
