12 Ways to Keep Your Eyes Healthy

If you know how important it is to look after your eyes, you probably want to know how you can keep them working as optimally as possible. There are plenty of ways you can damage your eyes, and plenty of ways you can keep them healthy. Here, we concentrate on how to keep them healthy. Here are 12 ways:

  1. Eat Food for Health

Healthy eyes need healthy food, so make sure you’re eating food for health. Many people eat food for enjoyment, but this leads to lots of bad food and choices being made. Think of your health and you’ll feel much better!

  1. Exercise

The more you exercise, the stronger your eyes will be. Exercise doesn’t just get your muscles fit and healthy, but your eyes too. Start as soon as possible to reap the benefits.

  1. Don’t Smoke

Smoking is the worst thing you can do for your eyes, so don’t smoke. If you do smoke, quit as soon as you can.

  1. Keep Drinking Under Control

Alcohol can be just as bad as smoking if you over do it, so make sure you stick to the recommended amount or below if you can.

  1. Don’t Share Mascara

Sharing mascara can spread all kinds of diseases and bacteria, so keep it to yourself!

  1. Be Hygienic With Makeup

If you wear other makeup, make sure you’re hygienic. Keep things clean and avoid sharing where possible.

  1. Avoid Using Potentially Dangerous Products

It’s hard to know which products can be dangerous for your eyes. However, there are cheap contact lenses that can scratch eyes, and even cheap eye drops that can irritate. Be vigilant about where you buy things and read reviews.

  1. Practice Eye Exercises

Practicing eye exercises can stop your vision from deteriorating. Do this for a few minutes every day and you should notice the difference.

  1. Wear Sunglasses

Sunglasses help to protect your eyes from UV light, which can be very damaging. Make sure you wear them whenever the sun is out, even if it’s winter!

  1. Wear Safety Goggles When Needed

If you do work that requires safety goggles, make sure you wear them properly to avoid damage. If you don’t, you could end up having to pay the eye surgeon a visit to remove something from your eye.

  1. Don’t Spend Too Long on a PC

If you spend a lot of time on a computer, look away every so often and focus on another point. There are other eye exercises you can try too!

  1. Have a Regular Eye Exam

Make sure you don’t leave it too long in between eye exams. You should have one every 2 years at least, or when you notice changes in your eyes. Don’t assume that there’s nothing wrong!
