12 Jobs That Could See You Through College

Working whilst you study can be tough but for many people in is necessary. At the end of the day studying doesn’t come cheap, so often you have to work to bring in funds whilst you do this.

The good news is that there are different jobs you can look at which are often ideal to do at the same time as studying.

Charity Shop

One of the best things about working in a charity shop is that they often need people at the weekend. This is great because it means that shifts are unlikely to clash with times that you need to be in class.

Clothing Shop

For many people another bonus is that you often get a staff discount at certain places. So if you get employed at Forever 21 or another clothing shop that you like then it is the ideal way to save yourself even more money.

Supermarket

Retail jobs are often ideal for people to do while they are studying, so you could also look at working in food stores. Once again this is likely to be a store that gives you a discount, so could save you even more money.

Small Independent Stores

They often have flexible shifts including evenings and weekends which helps to make your life much easier.

Content Writer

It is also worth looking at freelance websites such as People Per Hour and Digital Point. These allow you to offer online services in return for payment. Something like a content writer can work well because you can fit in jobs as and when you have the time – just be sure not to take on more than you can manage.

Data Entry

Web Design

If you have a flair for design then you could go for a job to do with web or graphic design too. There are freelance websites that allow you to apply for these type of jobs.

Social Media Managers

If you know Facebook, Twitter and other social media websites then you could offer your services in this area via freelance websites too.

Virtual Assistant

If you would like an admin job but don’t want to work 9-5 then it is worth looking for a virtual assistant job. These tend to be more flexible and allow you to work for a company from the comfort of your own home.

Waiter/Waitress

If you are a people person and don’t mind being on your feet then a job in a or restaurant could work well. These tend to have late night, evening and weekend shifts.

Bar Person

If you get a job in a busy bar then it is even a way to have a social life too! Wages for this type of job do tend to be basic, but you tend to get tips that can help to boost  the amount of money you get.

It is worth keeping an eye on campus jobs to see if vacancies come up. There are often positions that you can take without having to travel to work, which can make life easier. Assistant jobs, helpers in different apartments and even admin jobs are the type of positions you can expect.

If you are planning to work while you study then you need to make sure you take on a job that is flexible. Many of the jobs that are listed above allow you to work more during college holidays which is ideal. Make your potential employer aware of the fact that you are studying while you work for them part-time and they will usually do what they can to assist you through this.
